Chinese people like the fact that to execpt people for the good and the bad. And to do that, they had to combine it into one. Ying and Yang are the two great forces of nature. Two ideas were in the book of changed. Those idea's were the Ying and the Yang. Ying was the bad side of every story, war, fight, anything. and Yang was the the good side, the Zhou dynasty was understanding and they knew that there was two sides of everything. So they dicided that they were going to put it into one and make the Ying Yang sign.
The outer circle represents everything, while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called ying (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen.
